It won’t be long. The temperature begins to sneak above the 15 degrees. And that means one thing; the Danish summer is coming. But are you ready? And what should you be aware of when summer really hits Denmark?

Last year’s summer broke all records. We were hot. The sun was out. It was a great summer. But too many forget to use sunscreen when the sun (finally) arrives in Denmark.. It’s not sharp either. That is wrong. The sun’s UVA and UVB rays also reach Denmark. You must not only take your precautions when you are on a sun holiday, but also in Denmark.

In this post, we’ve collected 3 things to keep in mind when experiencing yourself in the sun.

Avoid the sun

yes, that sounds crazy. But it’s good enough. As far as possible, avoid exposure to the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. And the most effective way to do it; Avoid the sun, sit in the shade, under a parasol or wear a t-shirt and pants.

This avoids exposure to the sun’s dangerous UVA and UVB rays.

Do not walk in the sun between 12:00-15:00

You’ve probably heard it before… The Danish Cancer Society recommends staying out of the sun between 12:00 and 15:00. And that is because of one thing; the sun’s rays are sharpest during this particular time, which is why the probability of sunburn is higher than at other times of the day.

It can be dangerous to be scalded by the sun. Studies show that skin and melanoma are often caused by exposure to UV radiation. In fact, the WHO estimates that 90% of all cases of these cancers are caused by UV radiation. You can read more about the Danish Cancer Society, their studies and advice right here.

Use (lots of) good sunscreen

You simply can’t help yourself. You just want to go out in the sun. But too many Danes simply apply too little sunscreen to the body, and especially too little sunscreen on the face. According to the Danish Cancer Society, you need a handful for the whole body. If you apply less, the protective effect is reduced.

How to choose the best sunscreen for face and body

If you are only in Denmark, then factor 15 is in most cases plentiful. If you are going out and traveling where the sun’s UVA and UVB rays are stronger, you can use a factor of 30. But it is not only about protection, it must also be about care and nourishment of the skin.

Raunsborg has developed a new, unique solar series that protects against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. But the solar series not only protects against the sun’s rays, it provides the skin with the necessary care and nourishment when staying in the sun. This means that our sunscreens contain blueberries that have a calming effect, and sea buckthorn that has a high content of vitamin C.

And when you’ve been in the sun all day, it’s important that you smear your body in a good aftersun. For example, you can use Raunsborg After Sun Lotion, which is rich in assets and specially developed to soothe, soothe and cool the skin after sunbathing.
