Parabens is a generic term for a group of 6 preservatives consisting of Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isopropylparaben and Isobutylparaben.

For more than 60 years, they have typically been used in cosmetics such as creams, shampoos and make-up to prevent bacterial and fungal growth and degradation in the product, making them some of the most well-documented preservatives on the market.Parabens are active against a wide spectrum of bacteria and prevent products from rotting and causing infection. At the same time, they are mild to the skin and very few people develop allergies to them.

The content of parabens in cosmetic products in Denmark is regulated under the Ministry of the Environment’s decree on cosmetic products, limiting them to concentrations that, according to dermatologists, only very rarely cause allergies.

4 out of 6 parabens are on the EU list of substances suspected of being endocrine disruptors and the much debate among scientists and in the media about whether parabens are endocrine disruptors has created great uncertainty among consumers.

But parabens are not the same and their effects are therefore not the same either. Therefore, it is important to distinguish between the different parabens. Some are completely harmless and some are questionable.

If you have doubts about the use of parabens, you can avoid them altogether and choose products with other preservatives.
Raunsborg® Nordic contains no parabens.

It is a very proven choice that Raunsborg is not organic. Many people mistakenly confuse natural and organic products with hypoallergenic products.

In principle, you can be allergic to anything, and there is no guarantee that the product is organic or natural. For example, many organic products contain essential oils which typically contain allergens.

Often, the ingredients in organic and natural products are not as controlled as those in chemically produced products. In addition, the bacteriology of non-organic products is easier to control. In chemical production, it is possible to describe exactly which ingredients are in the products and in what quantity. This is beneficial for users and especially for allergy sufferers.

We get a lot of questions about what the difference is between eye serums and eye creams. Actually, the difference is not very big and most of the time it is just what the manufacturer chooses to call the product.

The difference between serums and creams is mostly the consistency, with serums being more gel-like in texture. Some eye creams also cannot “stand alone” and require you to use a day or night cream on top of your eye cream.

Raunsborg eye cream is a mix between an eye cream and an eye serum, the texture is a mix between a cream and a serum and can easily stand alone. So let your skin decide if the eye cream is enough or if your skin needs a cream on top.

SLS is found in 90 percent of shampoos, washing powders, toothpastes and the kinds of things you use very closely on your body. A shampoo’s most important purpose is to dissolve the fats in your hair, and especially your scalp. It’s the soaps in your shampoo that do that. The most commonly used soaps are Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES for short) and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS for short).
These sulphates can cause dry and irritated scalps while destroying the hair’s protective surface (cuticle layer), resulting in hair that is less resistant to the environment while not appearing healthy and shiny because the sulphates also break down the proteins from the hair’s core.

So, if you want to protect your hair as well as possible and have healthy, strong hair at the same time, you should choose a shampoo free of sulphates.

Raunsborg hair products do not contain SLES and SLS.

Silicone is often used in cosmetics because it has a softening and conditioning effect on the skin/hair. We do not use silicone in Raunsborg products as it can form a film on the skin/hair. When used in hair products it will give a kind of building effect, so the hair can become heavy and clumpy, and maybe seem a bit greasy in the long run. To get rid of this feeling, wash with a silicone-free shampoo. There are many different types of silicones some light and others more heavy/fatty.

When silicone is used it can futhermore forms a film on the skin and hair, that also prevents the active ingredients from penetrating the skin and hair.
